The Bachelor Degree in Computer Science & Engineering consists of general education courses, mathematics courses, business foundation courses, computer core courses, computer project work, computer elective courses and a thesis/dissertation submission. Each student is required to successfully complete 144 credit hours to graduate. A student may also be required to take remedial and supplementary non-credit courses to improve study skills, presentation and communication skills.
The areas and titles of the courses for each year are given on subsequent pages. The curriculum has been based on the semester system, with three semesters each year. Each semester consists of 15 weeks of work including examinations. This will be followed by a break for one week.
Credit hours have been based on the number of hours of lectures that need to be delivered in a week. One lecture per week throughout the semester means 1 Credit Hour. A course is normally delivered 3 hours per week, which is equivalent to 3 Credit Hours. The student will have to take a minimum of 4 courses each semester, totaling 12 credits. Over four years 144 credits will be earned. Out of 144 credits 4 credits will be made up of project submissions and dissertation presentations.
Some courses have corresponding practical classes as part of the course, which will be conducted once a week for 3 hours. Certain subjects, like Mathematics will have a tutorial period each week. Marks will be awarded for submission of worksheets after the tutorial period.
